In the Nineteen-Thirties during the great depression depending on how the war and your emotions were going you would wear a longer skirts if you were depressed.
Then later in time they wore clothing not cut straight but at a 45 degree angle for more revealing pieces. One of the famous designers was Elsa Schiaparelli. Elsa Schiaparelli designed mainly womens clothing. She had many new trends.

In the 1930's people wore a lot of platform shoes. Everyone started wearing them during the great depression. The Platform shoes were worn more towards the end of the 1930's. They were worn to be sure your feet would be protected from the ground. In Asia they also wore platforms to protect their tiny feet from sharp objects on the ground.

In the 1930's Many actors and role models would set the clothing standards. you could wear something like shirley temples new dress and become the hot topic of the town. you could dress like a celebirty and be known all throughout a town. If you made a Fashion statement you made a huge STATEMENT!
Men's Clothing:
Most people think fashion is just a girl thing but many men made fashion statements. Men wore mainly clothing dependent on their work. Like if you built you work Jeans and a average shirt. But on the other hand if you were a business accountant you would wear fancy pants and a polo of mainly a tux. otherwise if you were out of work you would wear what ever you had in your closet and not really care
